US Rejects Netanyahu’s Request for Direct Involvement in Iran Conflict

Washington, June 15, 2025: The United States has declined Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request for direct military involvement in the ongoing conflict with Iran. According to Axios, Israel sought U.S. military assistance to target Iran’s Fordo uranium enrichment facility, but the Trump administration explicitly rejected the proposal.

A senior White House official stated that the U.S. is not currently considering direct involvement in the conflict. “Whatever Israel’s actions, we cannot stop them, but if Iran abandons its nuclear program, we see room for peaceful negotiations,” the official said.

Israel’s Friday strikes hit over 100 targets in Iran, including nuclear facilities, ballistic missile factories, and air defense systems, killing several senior Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists. Iran has labeled the attacks a “declaration of war.”

Netanyahu claims the strikes aim to halt Iran’s nuclear program, but some analysts suggest he may be attempting to derail ongoing negotiations with the Trump administration. The U.S. decision has heightened tensions in the Middle East and raised concerns in global energy markets.
